📝Age is not the issue📝 but the ability to adapt – that's another matter With the start of the SMO and its stalling (let's call it that), one of the regularly cited reasons for the current situation by both military analysts and "armchair experts" was the excessive age of the generals responsible for planning the SMO. "The old guard has brought us to this!", "We need young and eager fighters!" – these and many similar phrases can be found especially often in comments on any negative SMO-related topic. Moreover, this position turned out to be characteristic not only of Russia, but also of foreign analysts. 📌 In Iran, they decided to compare the age factor and overall experience in the armed forces of the USA, Iran, and Israel. We won't go into details, but in short: Iranians have experience from the war with Iraq, the USA has technology, and Israel has both. 🖍If we compare this with SMO events, then an analysis where the main logic is built around previous experience and the age of decision-makers is not entirely correct. If you look at the general officer corps of the Russian Armed Forces, then, as they say, "there aren't that many old-timers". It's enough to study this question carefully and be convinced that in various brigades and across different directions there are quite a few young colonels and generals. But planning problems persist in some sectors. 🚩The Russian Armed Forces also have experience from previous wars. If Iranians took into account the Iran-Iraq confrontation in the 1980s, then Russia has two large-scale operations – in Afghanistan and Syria(not to mention the Chechen campaigns). And as practice showed, this experience proved not particularly useful in the SMO. The Americans and Israelis have been constantly involved in armed conflicts, and where has it gotten them? The USA can't deal with Iran, while the Israelis have been fighting for years mainly against those who can't respond proportionally. ❗️In modern conditions, what matters is not age or experience, but how people involved in various events adapt, learn, and train from them. Even if you're a 40-year-old general, but if you insist on tank columns in 2026, it won't get you anywhere. And times are such now that the pace of change in trends and combat tactics changes much faster than before 2022. The key is to regularly analyze what's happening rationally and learn from your mistakes, as the Russian Armed Forces do.
